What I've Learned Training Spiritual Practitioners Over 15 Years

Fifteen years of training spiritual practitioners. Some became the teachers the spirit world desperately needs. Others became the exact thing I taught them not to be.

The ones who succeeded at being genuine teachers chose to do the deep work. They understood that spiritual power is responsibility, not privilege.

Every therapist, every coach, every self-help book told you the same thing: heal your attachment wounds, do the inner child work, learn to regulate your nervous system, and the right person will finally stay.

You have done all of it. You even threw in 20 plant medicine ceremonies for good measure, a dating coach, and a $10k makeover, and nothing seems to be working.

There is something that has been sitting with me, and I have to say it.

I have noticed a pattern lately of spiritual practitioners publicly criticising other spiritual practitioners online, and I want to offer a perspective that may not be comfortable to hear.

Have you ever noticed that you never see the dark workers doing this? The ones who are genuinely operating in shadow, in manipulation, in harm are not on Instagram calling each other out because they are too busy doing their work.

I have watched this happen for nearly ten years.

The practitioner who arrives competent and capable yet quietly hollow underneath. The one who has done all the trainings, holds space beautifully for everyone else, and privately wonders why their own work feels like it has lost its pulse.

You became a practitioner because you felt the call so deeply it was impossible to ignore.

You did the work on yourself first, the way all good healers do, and you built an intelligent, compassionate relationship with the parts of you that learned to hide.

And something shifted anyway, quietly, in the wrong direction.

The EGO is leaky and uncontained, The SOUL is contained and shares with love.

Energetic leakiness has its roots in trauma and we leak energy when we haven’t found our internal power and haven’t had any energetic training.

You’re exhausted because you’re holding what isn’t yours.

For as long as you can remember, you’re the one who anchors the room. You are the one people come to with their issues. You are the one that can handle it when others collapse... and so you continue doing it.

You hold emotions, projections, stories and complexity. Not because you have to, because you can.

Until I realized I was excluding what shaped me.

As a teacher and student of systemic practice, I decided to allow it to be. Allow it to breathe, to take up space, and to not be excluded.

I didn't try to get rid of my trauma. I saw it, held it and acknowledged it. And instantly felt my body soften, relax, and allow. Most of us have been taught that trauma is the enemy.

I'm an abundance mentor and I teach financial literacy. I also help people to heal their money wounds. So you can think of me as like a financial psychologist.

When I started Sacred Space Weaver, I was working in corporate banking, and I had no idea that this path would unfurl for me. It's been actually phenomenal.

During my time in Mexico, without asking for it, I have received so much support from people on my personal and business journey.

Healers have been incredibly generous with their time showing me techniques they are happy for me to share with others. People with not much at all have shared food, laughter and even their homes. Indigenous elders have shared wisdom freely.

In today’s spiritual landscape, there are countless teachings, online containers, rituals, and spiritual personalities to follow.

Social media offers a constant stream of images of “spiritual lives”, ceremonies in flowing garments, aesthetic altars, and mystical archetypes. You may be wondering: Is this really what spirituality is meant to be?

1. “Love & Light” Only

Spiritual leadership isn’t about being high-vibe 24/7. It’s about being anchored while others unravel.

2. Rushed Initiations + Copy-Paste Rituals

Real transmissions don't come from a PDF. They come from embodied experience. If they learned it last month and are now teaching — run.

An animist cannot engage with all the beings during a trip as it would be overwhelming... so the prayer is "May the beings that my Soul needs to commune with make themselves known easily and effortlessly" - this may be plants, crystals, stones, elementals, angels - there is no limit. For now will focus on animals.

One being that touched me deeply is the black and white hawk/eagle (pizaetus melanoleucus)... every morning for a week I would watch it outside my window. I would feel peaceful just staring at it and watching it hunt. I honoured its diligence, patience, focus and ease of flight.
